The 2018 Chambertin Grand Cru is very intense on the nose, though I kind of wish that the new oak did not crowd out the fruit (again, only a barrel was produced, so not many options). The palate is balanced with a fresh entry, layered black fruit framed by slightly austere tannins. This denitely requires three to four years in bottle to shave its edges. One to watch, however.
