Ente's 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Village derives from a 0.5-hectare parcel contiguous with his holdings in Puligny lieu-dit Les Tremblots that he planted with low-yielding selections of Chardonnay in 2005 at a density of 24,000 vines per hectare. Bursting from the glass with aromas of pear, peach, fresh bread and orange oil, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and satiny, with a more gourmand core of fruit than the corresponding Puligny but similarly lively balancing acids. Low yields make their presence felt as discreet rather than demonstrative concentration.
