The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru is showing a lot of reduction on the nose, obfuscating the terroir expression. The palate is mediumbodied with chewy tannin and moderate acidity, and quite oaky in style, which makes it rather generic on the finish. The oak becomes more marked with aeration and the winemaking feels heavy-handed. This could be better. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
