The 2004 Burlenberg features tart blackberry and mulberry fruit, a savory salinity, inner-mouth florality, and a bright, palate staining finish. Firm tannins suggest a strong degree of extraction which may or may not be resolved with time. But this is certainly a strikingly-concentrated, attractively - indeed, I’m tempted to say “athletically” - lean Pinot that should be worth cellaring for 5-7 years.
